With a production of nearly 1 million tonnes, South Tyrol is one of the “big players” in apple sales. Every second apple harvested in Italy comes from South Tyrol. This represents 50% of the Italian and 10% of the European apple harvest. Almost 45% of the apples are sold in South Tyrol and the rest of Italy. The next most important export market is Germany with around 20%. Spain, Scandinavia and the Arab countries are also important markets for South Tyrolean apples.
