Markets

002a09_E7T3734_72With a production of nearly 1 million tonnes, South Tyrol is one of the “big players” in apple sales. Every second apple harvested in Italy comes from South Tyrol. This represents 50% of the Italian and 10% of the European apple harvest. Almost 45% of the apples are sold in South Tyrol and the rest of Italy. The next most important export market is Germany with around 20%. Spain, Scandinavia and the Arab countries are also important markets for South Tyrolean apples. South Tyrolean organic apples, which have been grown in South Tyrol since the 1980s, are also very popular. With a market share of almost 40%, South Tyrol is currently the largest organic apple supplier in Europe. More information: South Tyrol – Apple Country brochure (pdf) 1.30 MB  » download
